Bargain Hunting…
I love shopping for bargains, especially when we are in need of something. So what are we in need of? At the moment we are still trying to set up our reception area to be very functional and still open. We are currently using a rolltop desk that was downstairs but it isn’t very functional for a computer desk. So what our plan was to find a very narrow desk that had a keyboard tray, a space for a flat screen monitor (yes we still have some that aren’t), and a spot for the credit card machine. We wanted it to fit in with the decor of the inn, but also be affordable.
I searched for console or sofa tables that could suffice, as most of the desks we saw were at least 24" deep and as the reception area used to be a hallway 24" is too deep especially when a chair is there. We found a desk at World Market that we thought might work, but it was still 20" deep and didn’t quite fit in.
What we want to do is take the small rolltop desk and put it in the Columbia Room and do a mini-makeover of that room by taking out the table and chairs, a coat of paint, new side tables and the antique rolltop desk.
So what did I find? This was the desk at World Market, and was $220.
But I found this desk!

Isn’t it beautiful? The drawer front drops down for a keyboard tray and should fit in with the front desk. The first price I found was $435…OUCH. Nope, too much. Overstock had it for $299 and $1 shipping, pretty good price I thought, but I decided to keep looking. I found it on SmartBargains.com. On sale for $239.98, woohoo, but wait…they were having a special sale for purchases over $200 for an additional 10% off and free shipping! So all told, the desk cost $220 and will be delivered in 5 – 8 days. I think it is going to be the perfect desk for the area and is everything we were looking for.
