Lauren’s Nine Month Appointment
She has been growing and changing so much in just the last few weeks it is amazing. She has her sign ‘milk’ and says, "Dog" "Kitty" "Good" "Dada". If she is crying she will ask for momma.
So the nitty gritty:
Weight: 20lbs 3oz – 75th Percentile
Height: 29.25 inches – 95th Percentile
Head Circumference: 17.91 inches – 90th Percentile
We were quite surprised with her weight, seeing as she has been in the 90th percentile since she was a month old, but Dr Beth said it is quite normal that once kids get mobile their weight gain isn’t as great, especially in breast fed babies. Regardless she is too large for the carseat she is in now. The van was dropped off this morning to be serviced so we will hopefully have a functioning car that her other carseat can fit in. We also talked to her about the new carseat recommendations for kids to remain rear-facing for at least the first two years and she said the data was very compelling and if at all possible should be followed. So it looks like Snow White will be our vehicle for at least the next year, the seat just doesn’t fit in the bug rear facing.
Dr Beth didn’t test her for most of the things that were on the 10 month evaluation because she was off the charts just from what she was observing but was very advanced in language and fine motor skills and advanced in gross motor skills.
We got the go ahead for more wheat and some dairy, and seafood so we will have more fun foods to try soon, but for the most part Lauren has been a vegetarian, although every now and then she will share some of our chicken, but that is the only meat she has had so far. She still loves her veggies and is growing to like more and more fruits, she likes bananas and sometimes she will eat peaches and pears. Apples are just ok, but she likes to chew on them and leave the little bits all over. She really liked mandarin oranges when I gave some to her. There have been a couple of occasions when she started to choke, but so far nothing traumatic enough to make her stop eating.
Amazing, she is just amazing.
